He’ll never admit it. 

He had opposed her appointment; far too young and no relevant experience. He refused to listen to the argument that no other job could be called relevant when compared to the ARC. And what on earth was she thinking with those shoes? 

But as he holds Jess’ gaze and looks into wide, frightened eyes, he finds that he means every one of the words of reassurance that fall from his lips. He trusts her; trusts her to get him through. Get the whole the team though. 

But he’ll never admit it. 

Well, not to anyone else.
