Mini me update cos you're all impossibly lovely

Okay, thought I’d throw a mini update your way as so many of you are being so lovely.

Went back to Docs today and got first lot of bloods results (waaay earlier than expected, ra) All the big nasties like liver, kidney, thyroid function etc are all normal. Hurrah. My blood count re anaemia is also fine.

However there are other discrepancies in my blood, mast particularly a low level of B12. Discussing my diet I eat the kinds of food that B12 is in so it would appear that my body isn’t processing it properly for some reason. So, I went for some more blood tests to figure that bit out and hopefully get the results before the end of the week.

I’m signed off work until I can walk in a straight line, but my bosses are being brilliant. And now the big nasties are showing as fine the doc has given me something that should help the dizzy..

So…getting somewhere.

Thanks again for all your kind messages, my flist is just lovely; thank you.

Good to hear that you already got some results on your blood tests.

My body isn't processing B12 properly either. I have to have a B12 injection every 8 weeks (thank god my sister is a nurse and is able to give me the shot, so I don't have to make an appointment at my GP's every time).
I don't feel any difference (I have a low energy level), but one of my colleagues has Crohn's disease and has these injections too. She has more energy after the injection and it recedes gradually.

Hopefully they find out more soon.

And very cool piccies of Ben :D

Pics of Ben will cheer up anything!

Thanks for this, it's interesting to hear as the injections were something she mentioned as a possibilty. Thank you.

Glad it doesn't seem to be anything too terrible! Hope you feel better soon :D

*yay* for normal results. :D Hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong after this round of tests.

Thanks hon.

*Hugs*

Glad they've ruled out the nasties . . .

Are you vegan or vegetarian? I know I'm short of B12, so I take supplements (when I remember!) The body not processing it sounds a bloody pain . . .

[identity profile] jooles34.livejournal.com 2011-03-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, something of a carnivore, and cheese freak...so yeah...could be a pain. but anything to make the dizzy go away!

Hopefully this is something that can be easily dealt with. Cause being dizzy is not fun. Hugs to you and another kitty.

Goodness. *hug* Well, glad to hear they did the right tests on you. As you can see, it's not so uncommon and I hope you get sorted out now and feel way better! *big hugs for nasty anaemia*
Blimey, those pics are gorgeous!! Don't think I've seen that top one before. Thanks!!
Do let us know how you're getting on.

Thanks mate. I will no doubt keep you all posted! And, yeah, what better way to be cheered up than with Ben Miller; Mr Hell Yeah and Humena.

Glad to hear there's progress. A friend of mine had something similar a few years ago, and it turned out she was short of an enzyme. She had it by injection for a few months, and as far as I know her body went back to producing its own after a while.

[identity profile] jooles34.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you mate. Yeah, and injection has been mentioned and found out today that my Gran has a B12 definciancy too, so seems to be a fairly common thing.

Good news about the test results. Hopefully the anti-dizzy drugs will help alot. I'll keep everything crossed that they work out what's causing it soon.

[identity profile] jooles34.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I just want it sorted by Cardiff!!!

[identity profile] i-bananas.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely, we need you there!! (Even if it's just to smack certain people 'round the head) ;)

That thing with the B12 is so weird. I hope they get it worked out bb.

YAY for getting the other results back tho and for them being good.

*HUGS*

Thank you hon and thank you for hugs.

the good news is if there is no sinister reason for your B12 deficiency, they'll be able to give you regular injections to make up for that and that's it :D (oh yes, typing letters for haematology consultants does teach things - but still listen to the advice of your fully trained and qualified doctor :D)

[identity profile] jooles34.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, thank you mate. The doc mentioned injections so hopefully that will be the simple answer. Found out today that my Grandma has a B12 deficiency and has them too, which I didn't know. I will no doubt keep my flist updated!
