I'd speak to your union if you're a member. I know a similar thing (about being overpaid) happened to some people I work with - unfortunately they still had to pay it back but they were able to work out a more reasonable payment plan. But hopefully *fingers crossed* you won't have to pay back anything. And yes, sometimes things happen for a reason even if that reason isn't clear at 1st. Hope everything works out OK for you *hugs*
