Lester was staring at his desk, concentration evident on his face.
Connor looked at him through the glass of the office wall and couldn’t help but smile to himself.
There was something satisfying about watching Lester work. Nothing was too big for him to surmount; there was no problem he couldn’t overcome, no situation he couldn’t talk his way out of.
His sharp mind worked through problems in a direct, logical way. His wit and quick tongue could wither anyone who stood in his way.
Connor pushed open the door and stood in front of his partner.
“Anything I can help with?”
Lester looked up.
“Yes, come and be a maths genius. I’m trying to work out how many calories are in each minstrel.”
Connor stared at him for a beat, before opening the door and calling out:
“Becker! Can you come in here in a minute please?”
Becker ran up and into the office, gun pulled tightly against his chest.
“Becker, would you look at James for a moment and tell me if you see anything different about him?”
The captain regarded his boss for a moment before exclaiming:
“Oh my God Lester! Are those shoes new? They are to die for!”
