jooles34: (PleaseCome)

Right then dear flist, here is one of those “see a problem, do something about it” scenarios.

I want to lose a bit of weight, but know from experience that I’m a bit rubbish at it. I’d like to do it with a bit of support, but refuse to pay other people money so I can be weighed in public each week.

So here is my thought.

I wondered if there was anyone else on my flist who also wants to lose a few pounds and wanted to maybe get together and form a bit of a group to support each other. I would be happy to host it on my journal with a weekly post, locked to those who are taking part. Or I could set up a closed, members only comm page so that people can post whenever they like or feel they want some support, and gives a bit more autonomy to everyone.

My thoughts are that we can post progress reports, encourage each other, be understanding when we have those inevitable “but the cake was just there, I had to eat it moments” and generally look out of each other. For example, when someone posts “I have eaten nothing but air bubbles for a week and lost a third of my body weight” everyone else can gently berate them and make sure we’re all doing it in a healthy way.

I will mention a couple of caveats before we start though. I’m happy to host or set up a comm, but I am not a dietician. I will shout at someone who is clearly not eating sensibly, but if you have an underlying medical condition, please know yourself what is healthy for you to be doing.

This will not be a race in any way at all. People lose weight at different rates to each other, and each individual will lose at different rates during the weight loss time. Losing more or less than other people in the group each week means nothing. It is about personal goals ONLY.

No one has to share a starting weight with anyone else if you don’t want to. In fact you don’t need to share at any time. If you want to, that’s fine, but otherwise all we need share with each other is weekly progress. Some people may want to go buy measurement rather than weight loss; that’s fine too.

So any one fancy it? Let me know if you do and if you fancy a comm or for me to host it weekly.
