Seriously though, you have a Pteranodon as a pet? That is so cool. I would love to meet her. It’s weird after years of studying dinosaurs and trying to imagine what it would be like to see them for real, it’s what I do all the time now. Abby and I have a pet Coelurosauravus called Rex. Not quite as big as a Pteranodon though. What do you feed her?

And where the hell do you live to keep a pet like that? Is she kept in your base? Is it like the batcave or something?

I’ve just got myself a new research project. We were out on a job last week at the British Museum and this weird thing happened to the anomaly that I’ve never seen before. It has something to do with the relationship between the magnetism in the anomaly itself being counteracted by surrounding it with another magnetic field. It seems to be affected greater by an electrical current. Cutter’s put me in charge of the project to do more research and I think we’re soon going to be able to close the anomalies which will stop anything else coming through. It’s a bit of a shame really as it’s so interesting seeing what comes through but a lot of the time they are big things that try to eat people so it’s not really very good. It’s a bit hard to explain, but I have diagrams if you want? Of the theory I mean, not the big things eating people.

Did I ever tell you what anomalies are?  They are like gateways in space and time. They open up randomly and things can pass thorough either way. I bet you never thought you’d find out that portals to another place and time existed eh?!

We have a new member of the team now too. She’s a doctor called Sarah and she’s going to help us research the history of the anomalies. It’s all pretty sexy stuff really. We also have a new head of security. I think he thinks he’s funny. All the girls all over the place keep swooning over him. I think there’s something a bit odd about him though. He never goes anywhere without his gun and it’s not natural for anyone to be that neat.

Cutter seems to be picking himself up a bit now too. I can still see that he’s sad but we can talk a bit about Stephen in front of him now and he copes better. He’s even made a couple of jokes. You’d like my team I think.

And can I have this Tosh’s number? Seriously.

I’m really sorry to hear about everything that happened in London and your girlfriend and everything. I had no idea you were involved. I’m sorry. I know you don’t want to talk about it so I won’t mention it again unless you ever want to. But I get why you moved back to Cardiff now.

It sounds like you’re happy with your boss though. So he thinks we had a thing at uni? Doesn’t he know that it was the girls you were fighting off with sticks? Though maybe there were some guys interested too; I never really noticed. If it helps tell him what you like though. May as well get what you can. I wish something like that would work on Abby. Just don’t tell Tosh eh?

Oh, and at this thing that happened at the British Museum, I was put under a curse. Sarah said it’s for life apparently though if that’s the case I think I must have already been under one for years. My luck has never exactly been the greatest. What do you reckon Ianto? If a cursed person is put under a curse do you think the curse is squared or do you think one would cancel out the other? In which case an Egyptian curse could be the best thing that’s ever happened to me!

It’s nice being able to talk about this stuff to someone who I can trust to keep it quiet but is outside the team. And for two guys who both have pet dinosaurs, I think we’re as normal as they come mate.

I feel kinda sorry for Connor, he sort of thinks everything at the ARC would amaze and astound Ianto, but Ianto probably just thinks, 'Yeah, pretty much sounds like what I do every day.'
