It was Claudia who went out to buy them when everyone else inevitably forgot.

It was Claudia who pinned up a birthday list so there were no more excuses for forgetting.

It was Claudia who would send out emails and traverse the building making sure that everyone knew there was cake to be had and where to find it.

It was Claudia who would return to her desk to find sated, smiling colleagues next to empty bakery boxes.

It was Nick who always secretly stole one away for her.
