Title: Thorn in the Years
Characters: Ianto
Word count: 100
Challenge[info]
tw100 prompt: Random title generator. Title generated "Thorn in the Years"
Rating/Warning: 15 - one naughty word and themes
Spoilers: For Cyberwoman
AN - I got six titles from the generator so decided to do a drabble for all of them, each from the POV of a different character. It's amazing what you can do on a bus journey...

He wonders if he would be doing this if it wasn’t for the guilt. Would he be fighting this hard to save her if it was just for love?

He did love her. He loved her more than he had words for. And that made his actions even stranger.

Why had he done it? How had he found himself fucking the new temp in a cheap hotel as Cybermen invaded the building he should have been working in?

It was the first time he’d cheated. The one thorn in all their years of roses.

And it had saved his life.

After writing this, I was inspired to write a follow-up drabble: The Importance of Being Ianto

Holy shite!!! "...one thorn in all their years of roses" is so beautiful, so poignant, so pain-filled -- brilliant.

Thank you so much. The prompt pretty much wrote the line for me, but thank you, I'm pleased you think it worked.

I really like this, because I'm sick of "St. Ianto" fics relative to Ianto/Lisa and this seems WAY MORE LIKELY to me. Even makes me like Ianto a little, which is saying something. Nice job.

Lol, thank you. As much as I like his character I don't believe in St Ianto; flawed characters are so much more fun. I'm glad you find this explanation plausible too. Thank you.

Oh, I LOVE this idea. This actually makes more sense to me than the conventional versions of what happened.
