Another short silly fic for a friend

Well moonlitcactus is also having a bored day and needed cheering. She offered me "in the spirit of prompting based on whatever it is the recipient needs distracting from, let's see what you can do with 'research on a topic that once was interesting but has got old really quickly, and still not finding anything worthwhile to tell your boss about it'... :)"

This is what she got (again, own nothing, but there is swearing in this one.):

“You know that I hate you don’t you?”

Jack simply smiled at Owen, causing his doctor to scowl even more. He rested one booted foot on the railing and looked down.

“What’s the problem Owen?”

“This fucking job you’ve got me doing.”

“Ah, job you volunteered to do.”

“Yeah, whatever, I thought it would get me out of cataloguing in the archives with the others didn’t I? But that does not change the fact that this is dull, tedious and I’m beginning to think frankly pointless. I’ve been at it for two days and I’m getting nothing useful, except covered in bits of stinky alien goo.”

As he spoke Owen gestured wildly around the room with the scalpel that was clenched in his hand. Jack surveyed the assortment jars and dishes that held various sticky, slimly, pointy, squidgy, smelly, bubbly and everything elsey you can imagine, bits of alien.

“So, there’s no connection then? I never would have guessed.” Jack tried, but failed, to keep the smirk off his face.

 

Owen didn’t miss it. He glowered. “You’re a bastard Harkness.”
