Jenny looked around as she was shown into the unfamiliar flat.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know who else to call. It's just…I don’t know what to do Jenny. Connor’s gone and I have no idea if or when he will come back.”

“Ja…”

“I am always in control; always. But this? I am completely powerless. I can’t do anything. Can’t shout, can’t order it to change, can’t threaten it, I can’t even wave a magic fucking wand.” Jenny’s eyes welled up as Lester’s rant paused and his voice went quiet. “I just want him back.”

Lester stood, arms folded across his chest, and surveyed the ARC’s main control room below him. Jenny came and joined him, standing quietly at his shoulder for a moment before speaking.

“You get an excellent view from here.”

He cast her a glance. “The scientists aren’t much to look at,” he said dismissively.

Jenny grinned. “Whose looking at the scientists?” she replied, nodding towards the assorted SF soldiers.

“That’s not terribly professional.”

“Stuff professionalism.” With a final grin Jenny sashayed away.

Lester watched her leave and tried to figure out exactly what it was causing the shiver down his spine.

“If you and Lester have to pose as a married couple at some snooty place I thought you should have the right sort of names. And I thought you’d like being a Lady.”

“But Conner, "Lady Josephina Rose Fizwallop Catoniasta The Third" is a bit of a mouthful.” she paused. “Do I even want to know what name you’ve given to James?”

Connor grinned, but the smile fell from his face as the office door opened with a bang.
